November 19, 2023 - Ye Paulee (Hao Noodle): Decanted. Mellow, dark fruit, pretty. 92-93

November 10, 2022 - Decanted briefly. A beautiful birthday wine showing well for its age, the Lynch-Bages initially showed a beautiful, complex attack with delicate red fruit and herbs quickly followed my a dense mess of wood and leather, then a metallic finish. With a bit of air, the nuances of the attack were lost but the palate relaxed beautifully with redcurrant, leather and earth. It held up for over an hour with ease. A great showing from a bottle with fully saturated, loose cork and demolished label.

January 21, 2022 - Quite evident wet wool aromas in addition to some bouillon. Drinkable, but something seriously wrong here.

September 24, 2021 - From the dirtiest, moldy bottle I've ever owned, this example looked like a recently unearthed relic. But behind that dirty label and mold encrusted cork was a gem! First, this smells like a '59. Off the bat with one sniff, I knew this would have rich, mellow fruit, molasses, wet earth, soy sauce, and a bit of mint. The palate contains all that and more. This wine had mature fruit with a touch of sweetness, but none of that stewed, cooked quality that a superripe monster might show at this age. There was freshness under that fruit coming from that menthol/eucalyptis note, more wet earth, some bbq sauce, molasses...The '59 Lynch was also elegant. It has soft, gentle tannins and a medium bodied mouthfeel. Perhaps the finish was a bit short. A wonderful treat.
