January 20, 2024 - Pearl of Burgundy gala dinner: From magnum, my contribution. Quite elegant albeit a little thin for an old Faiveley. Attractive VA on the nose that wasn’t very Gevrey-like, also surprisingly red fruited rather than dark. Meaty notes emerged with air. Slightly atypical but thought this was very good.

September 10, 2023 - sour strawberry, some cherry, spicy sois bois, slightly sharp acids

July 30, 2023 - Tight aroma but some dark fruits. Tastes of field berries, a bitter edge of tea, measured acidity. Light to medium bodied with good balance. Lacks grand cru complexity. Drink now - 2033.

Needs 30 minutes in a decanter.

August 16, 2022 - The 2001 Faiveleys are pretty weak. I’ve now had three bottles of different Chambertin vineyards and they have little character.

November 25, 2021 - Cedar, cherry and a bit of reduced balsamic on the nose. The palate had secondary raspberries and a drying tannin on the finish. Overall, there's a ribbon of barnyard that's woven through both the nose and palate leaving you in a position that forces you to decide IF you like your Burgs aged with secondary flavors or prefer to drink them young while the fruit is still primary.

(Faiveley Mazis-Chambertin) Medium red violet color with pale meniscus; appealing sous bois, cherry, mineral nose with focus; silky textured, with lots of stuffing on the palate, showing tart red fruit, baked cherry, minerals, roses and a touch of chlorine; medium-plus finish 92+ pts.
