March 26, 2016 - Decanted for ~2 hours, consumed over ~2 hours with rib-eyes & home fries. This has developed since my 3/9/2013 note, but not much except for structural integration. Previous notes generally still hold true - a confident cab with dark inky fruit, a little cassis and tar, and a whiff of well-integrated oak. Not showy and a bit wound up, but very nicely put-together and with potential to drink well for a long time.

March 9, 2013 - Decanted for 2 hours, consumed over ~3 hours. Apparently, little has changed in the time since my 5/13/2011 note. I like the dark and inky profile here, although I had hoped it might blossom and become more effusive in the last couple of years. No such luck, so I think I'll leave our others tucked away for a while.

May 13, 2011 - Not decanted (although it really should have been). A structured cab, dark in color and flavor. Hints of blackberry & currants, but notes of bark (or cherry pit), and ink/tar are just as prominent. Seems to be just barely edging into some secondary development. Drinking well now with enough air, but I think this deserves time to develop.

January 27, 2011 - A Personal Visit to the Fieldstone Winery Tasting Room. (Fieldstone Winery, Healdsburg, CA.): The Fieldstone Estate Vineyard is a very special place. It produces arguably the best Petit Sirah in California. With their excellent terroir and almost impeccable growing conditions for several varietals (Cabernet, Petit Sirah, Merlot, Syrah, Viognier) they never bothered to participate in the deficiencies of the 2006 vintage. In fact they may have taken advantage of the smaller, more concentrated berries. This is their flagship red wine and reflects tremendous attention to detail over several decades in the vineyard and winery. This is not for the weak of palate drinkers. It is full throttled, concentrated, and really quit young 4.3 years. I got some of that road tar on the nose. Extremely dark color. Thick layered fruit starting with red raspberry, including dark cherry, and continuing to cassis and black currant. There are plenty of tannins, this will definitely age. The road tar continues on to the complex fruity, leather finish. Thats enough words, wish everyone had a chance to taste this.
