August 11, 2016 - Tasted from magnum. Gorgeous nose with complexity and nuance -- plum fruit, tobacco leaf, bell pepper and toasted herbs. The Cab Franc is really singing. Palate has medium body with round herby fruit. Good lift and persistence. Terrific stuff.

August 11, 2016 - Magnum. Black fruit, nicely mature, with leather and roast meat. Very balanced for current enjoyment.

February 4, 2014 - Cellared since release. Perhaps a little beyond its peak, this is an aged wine with delicacy to its spicy Cabernet Franc fruit and it still provides much pleasure

This wine certainly shows up those who claimed that the estate was not producing good wines in the mid-1990s, just as critics of von Schubert from the early 2000s and Tempier from the late 1990s have been proved wrong by recent bottles of those wines.

March 31, 2013 - Decanted for 4+ hours. A bit of barnyard funk upon opening but less so than the Clos du Chene Verts from the same vintage. Funk was replaced within 30 minutes with an enticing earthy bouquet and earthy palate. Not for everybody, but I loved it.

November 12, 2011 - The Embodiment of Memory (Bob's House - Alexandria, VA): The nose had sweet tobacco, roasted herbs and dried cranberry. I thought the palate was brambly, rustic and exotic. It had roasted bell peppers, a really alluring floral lift, clove spice and dense cranberries. This had mouthwatering acidity and was nicely structured.
