April 7, 2021 - Decanted and served. Very, very sweet on the nose, caramelized for sure and definitely ripe on the palate, but still got the acidity. The chardonnay was very obvious. Got better with the second pour, really sweet like sugar cane. After 1½ hours it was even better. At 2 hours in it was also a little metallic, along with Chinese licorice. Sweet and so fragrant. Really fantastic after 2½ hours.

March 10, 2021 - Very ripe on the nose, very oxidized... much more so than expected. Sugar cane, honey, a little metallic, very complex nose. Lovely, but a little too ripe and over the hill. Not sweet on the palate, though. About an hour after opening, kinda alcoholic with a little flint. Disappointing as this bottle seemed a little over the hill.

March 28, 2016 - right off the bat this showed good amount of toasty oak, very fragrant, with lemon, fruity, and floral notes. A hint of marmalade, with straw and a little sweet grass. Definitely very ripe and sweet on the palate. An hour after opening, showed caramelized sugar and vanilla. Two hours after opening it was still really toasty with lots of buttery corn, which faded a little to show some leather notes even later. This Roussanne and Chardonnay blend was just incredible.

January 29, 2016 - SQN White Birthday Weekend tasting in Vegas (Private Residence - Las Vegas, NV): This was my first time enjoying this older SQN white. A blend of Roussanne and Chardonnay dominated by Roussane grape. This wine was a short decant yet still was massive. At 15.2% alcohol I was shocked as how it likely has mellowed. This was was complex on so many levels. It changed multiple times in the glass and I kept coming back to it during our tasting. I was struck by it's almost Sauternes like color yet it's glycerin and citrus (mid palate was orange peels) were prominent. The nose was that of a nutty madiera and as full-bodied in the flavor. I've read reviews of it's chewiness texture but I saw none of that. While it takes a while to get used to this dry wine - I loved its complexity on so many levels. I feel like its in it's ideal tasting window - but again this is the only bottle I've ever enjoyed

December 29, 2013 - Had this twice in the last couple months with consistent notes both times. This wine has evolved into an extraordinary white that has a streak of dessert wine running through it. Definitely sweeter than a normal white but by no means as sweet as a dessert wine. Its a wonderful blend and I suspect it wasnt always this way. How many 18 year old whites are even still drinkable? Very few. Buttery, notes of lemon, hint of citrus but mostly a smooth and supple wine with such varying notes they cant be listed. I like this white slightly warmer than the normal white - really brings out the flavors. Best white I have ever had. 96+
