March 10, 2013 - Very good mature Dolcetto.
Paired perfectly with Aubergines and Parmiggiano lasagnes. -

So, how is a 4 year old Dolcetto? It's serious! Mature notes on the nose - dark cherries, earth, minerals, old wood, minerals. It just smells Roagna! Lovely, juicy mouth feel, still brilliant acids and a serious structured finish. I think it could have developed for several years still.

Dolcetto Wine Tasting, Episode #748, 10/5/2009 (link) 88+ points(Roagna Dolcetto d'Alba) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very floral; red flowers, lilacs & tulips; really dried up cranberry as well; PALATE-very fresh fruit; a little tight, but showing pretty well for being so young; very chalky & dusty; clearly sour cherries for days; the floral component on the nose is apparent as well; very tannic and dry; I like the freshness of the fruit; I'd be remiss not to mention the pretty strawberry on the back-end; GV-88+
