February 28, 2023 - Gorgeous mature Margaux and a true value at what I paid for it. First, I worried that this would be old ripe fruit tasting like prunes, but nope. This wine had the finesse you expect of a Margaux, the restraint and earthiness you expect of a Bordeaux, and the tertiary development you expect of a 33 year old wine. On the nose, there was iron shaving, wet earth, sous bois, graphite, flowers, barnyard, and very little fruit. What fruit there was came through on the palate only in the background. The palate was much the same, though the barnyard faded away quickly and the fruit filled out a little, but not much. This wine had presence in the mouth, and wasn't exactly delicate, but the tannins were mostly resolved. This hasn't at all hit "old" yet, but the fruit has begun fading. I'd say its in the perfect spot to open and enjoy, and it most likely lacks the stuffing to last much beyond its 50th year.

January 1, 2022 - Really pretty 30+ yr old BDX. Tertiary. Velvet. Dusty old leather with cassis. A bit of funk - bricking through. A nice aged claret.

January 16, 2021 - Boxing Day beauty from magnum. Bought this only from Huntsworth Wines, Kensington for £170.

Total surprise. Absolute belter. High class. Every typical smell of 30 year old claret. Vintage and format helped I am sure but this is a proper job. Up there with the best reds I had in 2020. Find some if you can.

November 13, 2019 - Grand Cru Wines at The Kenwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN): Very dark red/purple color. PNP; drank a glass over 90 minutes. Cassis, slightly green, somewhat rustic, full bodied, oak and dried wood. 91+ to 92pts.

November 13, 2019 - Mark's fine btl at The Kenwood, a marvelous and my personal favorite local restaurant. This was a fun contrast to the '89 Leoville Barton. This was opened at the venue and slow oxed in btl for an hour prior to drinking. This is fully mature and drinking great. Ruby red color but not opaque with some bricking on the edges. Perfuse aromas of berries, cigar box and spice. Placid, lifted elegance and grace. Minerally red fruit along with tertiary tobacco leaf, licorice and cedar. 29yr old BDX pleasure in spades. 94pts+
