March 30, 2013 - Decanted for sediment prior to dinner.

Deep mahogany & leather, boysenberry, bouquet garni, molasses, and sun-dried tomatoes. Wonderfully fragrant & earthy. Finish is a bit high toned, but it has good cut. Needs a dish that can tame its wildness like a Mediterranean spiced lamb or Merguez sausage (Now to 2016).

December 30, 2011 - Upon first opened there was a distinct fragrance of candy, backed by cigar tobacco and leather. Paired this with oak smoked baby backs and each brought the oak qualities of the other. Great food wine.

November 3, 2011 - Woody notes of oak, cigar tobacco and leather on the nose that continue onto the palate, along with dark sweet cherries and dark chocolate. Quite good!

December 11, 2009 - Corked! opened for a group of people that never had a Core wine, what a disapointment

October 15, 2008 - Cracked this tonight for a glass of red wine while watching Escape From NY.

Great CdR nose, in fact this could be a dead ringer for a good CdR. Provencial herbs, white pepper, ripe raspberry with a hint of new saddle leather. On the palate, more ripe raspberries, white pepper, vanilla, leather and loamy earth. Has a little minerality on the finish which is a little on the short...keeps this from garnering more points. Very tasty. I would drink these in the next couple of years though as the finish seems to be drying out a bit...
