January 22, 2016 - Pleasant surprise from a back corner of the cellar. Floral nose and finish, soft mouth, dark cherries and black pepper as it opened.

    December 12, 2015 - P&P
    dark opaque red-purple-black
pleasant velvety aromas of dark fruits with spicy notes - quite a surprise for a cheap wine at this advanced age
soft round integrated tannins, still with powerful fruity-spicy flavours, smooth, silky, very enjoyable, dark fruits, oak-vanilla, soft spices, pleasant short finish.
    excellent value for money.

January 5, 2013 - I cant believe Im about to write this about a cheap general listing shiraz, but here goes: what a shock?! This is a very decent wine. Decanted for 30 min, cork was black, and lots of tannin left at the bottom of the bottle. Colour has clarified to a very nice ruby/ garnet. It had a very nice fruity nose, good but more relaxed fruit than when drunk within the first couple years. I usually find young shirazs too much up front, but this has settled down nicely. This had nice, but not overpowering hints of cherry, vanilla, and buttery cream. Tannins have all integrated nicely and this wine has become very very smooth. Subtle and slightly oily finish. This is drinking perfectly now but probably has another couple years left. Frankly, i think this wine should be rated much higher than the average here suggests. I think people are biased by the fact that it is pretty much a cheap wine, as was I, and score it accordingly. I think most would add 5 points to it if you slapped a different label on it. Just happened to find it sitting in the cellar by accident and said what the heck. Wow, was i surprised. I now wish I had bought a case or two for the 10 bucks this stuff cost. Not very complex, but at this price, you could buy several cases and age it for 8 to 10 years and very much enjoy it as an everyday wine that will rival wines at 5 times the price in my opinion.

As a value, this is absolutely excellent.
