March 19, 2024 - This was really singing. That amazing nose of roasted meat, herbs, earth, and who knows what else. The palate followed -- really nice integration of the savory notes with some complementary fruit. Reminds me why I like these wines so much. Unfortunately the 2009 En Cerise that was meant to also be consumed was corked! The risk of the hobby! [Note to self -- not sure which bottle this was; so subtract one from what is left.]

September 7, 2022 - Layers of delicious mature fruit, minerals, earth, and meat on the nose and silky smooth palate with a long finish. Continues to drink beautifully!

June 27, 2020 - One of our favorite Cayuse vineyards. Still very dark and opaque. Very pronounced and typical Cayuse aromas of smoke, tar, roasted meats, pepper, some other spices. Very full-bodied dark fruit flavors, but also round and very drinkable, perfect balance with acid and tannin. Flavors build on the palate for more than 30 seconds. Full, rich aftertaste that keeps going. A perfect wine, perfectly ready!

September 13, 2019 - Popped and poured, a mistake since it was ho-hum right out of the bottle. But on day 2 - much more like it. Ripe and intense, pure red/black fruit, iron, blood, subtle funk. Long finish. Excellent.

9/22/2011 (link) ***** points(Cayuse Vineyards Syrah En Chamberlain Vineyard Walla Walla Valley) Intoxicating aromatics of blood, tar, iron, smoked meat, and a subdued funk. The palate has an incredibly textured feel full of minerality that is somewhere between crushed stone and liquid rocks. An incredibly long (30-60 second) finish. 100% Syrah. 296 cases produced.

Earth, blood, and smoked meat on a nose that is already alive and rising out of the glass. The palate is about as close to perfect as I can imagine. I marked this as three stars in my notes, something I can’t remember having done previously. 100% Syrah. 14.6% alcohol. To be released in 2010.
