  August 14, 2022 - Deep dark reddish-purple in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & some floral notes, dried herbs, minerals, leather, anise & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, minerals & a hint of cedar. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well with decanting & airing but at 25 years of age, it's at its peak of development although it may hold here for a few more years if stored properly.

  June 14, 2022 - From magnum: Absolutely gorgeous. Elegant, playful, seductive. Gracefully aged with lingering red fruit but beautiful signs of ageing. Still lively due to the wonderful acidity (Sangiovese was much more prominent in the Il Blu back then). Blew away a 2008 L'Apparita and '94 Pichon Comtesse that night. I guess that says it all.

  April 14, 2017 - Verticale di Brancaia di fine Millennio (Firenze): Aperto circa tre ore prima di servirlo.Bel colore intenso e brillante, ancora giovanile. Naso pulito, netto, piuttosto elegante, frutti di bosco freschi ma polposi, sottobosco, spezie dolci, chiodi di garofano, viola. Al palato gran bell'equilibrio, con tannini rotondi, la freschezza giusta e nessuno sbilanciamento sulla parte alcolica. Fosse solo un po' più lungo meriterebbe una valutazione ancora migliore, ma è già molto buono così. Pronto, ma non ha ancora iniziato la parabola discendente.

  February 18, 2012 - Bright medium red. Very floral, black cherrry, earth, mineral and leather nose. The palate though is not as interesting and the finish seemed a bit thin.
  
  The nose on this wine was extrordinary, at first the palate was dissapointing in comparison, I went back to the wine later and it seemed to put on a fair bit of wieght. I upgraded it to 93.

  October 8, 2011 - Dense colour, multi-layered bouquet, delicious taste with good persistence, seems light-weighted and a bit cool. Very classy, in hot year. Highlight for those prefering finesse more than power. Guess this will be nice with even 10 yrs+ ...
