October 17, 2010 - New World style, I'm not a huge fan of the Malbec grape, so I feared a bit for this 100% Malbec bottle, but it was a pleasant surprice : ripe, full, fruity wine with a pleasant afterdrunk

May 30, 2010 - Pleasant red fruit with soft palate, though dies quickly on the finish. Decent.

April 18, 2010 - Blackberry, vanilla and oak. Good value wine for the price.

March 4, 2010 - My favorite of the night, this was a Malbec that exhibited varietal characteristics with some restraint. Blackberry jam and spice aromas. Silky texture in the mouth, wrapped around a blackberry fruit core. Notes of vanilla in the finish. Drink 2010-12

(Bodega Séptima Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina) It seems as if the current trend in Argentina is to make Malbecs richer, riper, more alcoholic, and certainly oakier (and many a bottle now weighs more than a Smart car). The style of Séptima, a winery known within the country for its excellent sparklers, is much truer to the grape’s natural expression. The ’08 has just the right depth of ripe, plummy fruit and all the wonderful aromatics Malbec is known for—violets, deep black fruits, anise, and herbs—with only a slight touch of oak. Great value. Hot Picks
