May 15, 2021 - Very deep red center with red rims. High- intensity nose of cola, blackberry, minerals, and some black spices.

In the mouth, this wine had notable rounded tannin, firm acidity, and great length. Very serious, intense, and impressive.

This is really rather young and will probably be better in 5-10 years but it is already pretty great. It may well get better.

August 1, 2020 - The nose was slightly extracted with red currant, blue fruit, ginger flower and spice. Weighty palate with plenty of stuffing. Still very youthful like many 93s. It will likely add more nuance with age. 92-93

October 26, 2018 - Grands Echezeaux: Served blind. VA and/or heat damage, it was undrinkable to all at the table.

January 10, 2018 - Pop. 93 mongeard is one of his best vintage ever made. Nose has Asian spice, ginger flower, earth and berries. Palate is balanced with good precision. For the domaines 93, I actually like his richebourg and clos vougeot more, but this GE is still a pleasure to drink today.

July 24, 2016 - A Burgundy Night (San Francisco): Even ruby. Beautiful nose of Asian spice, strawberry, and hoisin. Medium weight with gradual addition of sap as it opened. Gentle sweetness of red fruit, a touch of herbs, not as stemmy as the other Grand Crus tonight, excellent acidity and length. Seductive wine that grew over time. Impressive freshness of fruit at this stage. Outstanding and consistent with my prior bottle.
