Community Tasting Notes 1

  • IJC Likes this wine:

October 1, 2016 - I bought this bottle on release, and have kept it in proper storage since then, previously consuming it's mate and two other cuvée from the same vintage and producer. I let this one go longer, curious to see how the wine would change with greater age. I think I waited too long.

Others felt that the wine bore the proper hallmarks of its vintage, and was undamaged - that the secondary/ tertiary notes were appropriate. I regret the loss of what I recall was a fiercely mineral driven, brilliantly crisp stoney quality (the vinyard is called Perrières for a reason, you know). This is what one gives away. In it's place, the wine became a bit austere, with autumnal notes (not yet wet leaves, thank goodness) replacing those of spring and summer; most regrettably, the scent that is so quickly identifiable as Meursault was gone. We drank it accompanied only by freshly roasted almonds, a good pairing in principal, but the finish was strangely short - it just stopped - while the flavor of the almonds persisted. More stimulating intellectually than of the senses.

    Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.
