Community Tasting Notes 4

February 1, 2015 - Slightly musty to begin with, that blew off to reveal a nice and typical Chassagne profile of white flower, peach and yellow fruit. The balance of richness and acidity was just about right on the palate and length good for a villages. Consistent with last bottle. **1/2-***

December 23, 2011 - This wine was pleasant, but there is not much more to say. The typical Chassange ingredients are there: minerals, citrus, but the whole wine feels out of balance, the oak/vanilla is a bit overpowering, and it might already shows signs of oxidation. Not recommended.

October 20, 2009 - Pinot and Chardonnay but not necessarily Burg (Hsin Yeh): A bountiful bouquet of flowers, melons and some muskiness. A well defined wine with crisp acidity but maintaining nice roundness. Delicate with chockful of chalky minerality. Suprisingly aromatic for such a young wine and I suspect the lovely acid and minerality will carry it through for a few years. Exceptional for a village.

October 19, 2009 - Chardonnay and Pinot Night with Jean-Pierre Renard (Shin Yeh, Liang Court Singapore): Really good for a village. Nose had tremendous aromatics - tons of flowers, perfumy, soap suddy almost, all daisies, violets and honeysuckle with a touch of grass and inflections of spice and almond nuts. Lovely. The palate had a nice delicate touch on the attack, with fresh cut flowers and grapefruit tones dancing around the mouth. The wine's backbone was made of slightly sterner stuff though, with fresh acidity and oyster-shell minerality giving the wine a nice cut and definition. There was plenty of weight and heft on the mid-palate as well, opening into a nice finish with lingers of candied ginger. A very singular wine, with plenty of personality. Will be even better with a few years under its belt.
