August 31, 2022 - Deep purple color. Initially subtle aromas of black olives and liqorice. With greater aeration, there were a range of flavors from sun dried tomatoes to black cherries to toffee. Nicely balanced although still moderately tannic (this was less apparent with aeration). Very food friendly wine. 13.9% alcohol. Tasted with a group of friends in a flight that included the B. Leighton 2013 Olson Brothers Vineyard Syrah and the 1997 Rolf Binder Hanisch Shiras from Barossa Valley.

November 26, 2020 - Pandemic thanksgiving... this was lovely. Not giving much on the nose but the palate delivers - smooth, seamless, and elegant. Fruit forward with a lot of spice and good acidity. Excellent finish is long and refreshing. Still has many years to go. Would have loved some more complexity but it's definitely pleasurable and a good restrained example of WA Syrah.

December 23, 2017 - Surely delicious – perhaps a bit bigger than the 2006, and certainly in need of more time to really shine. Bottle #2 of the John Lewis side by side several weeks back, this top tier Gramercy offering is a true testament of what Washington Syrah can be (at a more reasonable price than what some of the other big name WA Syrahs go for). The wine stayed fairly true to the ’06 - showcasing currant, raspberry, plum, and black cherry before delving into a wealth of black pepper, thyme, licorice and tobacco – but while seemingly bigger and a bit bolder, didn’t quite display the same depth of flavour. That’s not to say the wine was lacking, by any means, just that it needs longer than the ’06 to really come together. Wood spice and biscuit showed through as a result of approx 10-20% new oak aging, and though not too out of place could use a bit more integration. There were virtually no discernable age-worthy notes; with some air, further notes of forest, gravel, and smoke came forward before finishing off with hints of coffee and milk chocolate (but never any of that spicy, cured meat, leather quality one might expect). By the last few sips of the evening the bottle really was offering something fantastic, and I don’t have any regrets on my decision to open it now. All it did was give me further encouragement to find another (or two) and see what the future has in store!

October 17, 2015 - Getting Indian spice on the nose tonight and then cherry blackberry palate. Ruby colored very balanced. Really enjoyed it.

Boasts a fullness on the palate, especially the mid-palate, that is simply breathtaking. The purity of the fruit and the balance of this wine are beyond exceptional. 100% Syrah. Les Collines and Forgotten Hills vineyards. Aged in French oak (approximately 15% new). 13.7% alcohol. 146 cases produced. To be released Spring 2010 (NB: This wine was released last month subsequent to the publication of this report).
