February 2, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Alright, time to mix things up with a wine from the mainland. This is a bold, dark and juicy wine with dark berries, cocoa and tobacco aromas. Full with solid tannic structure, seems densely tannic after all the Maderia wine I’ve been tasting. But I dig the chewy plum and currant fruit, and I get complex notes of olive, iron and loam. Firm but opens up; it does what it does very well.
