  October 25, 2014 - Blind Tasting - Battle of the States: Chocolate, licorice and vanilla - nose is a little muted throughout. Medium bodied, nicely balanced. Good but not really pushing to be great.

  April 15, 2005 - This was decanted for a hour and a half prior to serving.
  
  Deep ruby-red in colour. Remained rather closed initially and I found the tannins to be quite prominent. I allowed the wine to sit in the glass for a half hour while cooking dinner, during which time it opened up to deliver aromas of cherry, violet and a touch of plum. The extra time in the glass allowed for the tannins to soften and integrate. Excellent mouthfeel and finish.
  
  Second Night: The remaining 375ml was enjoyed with a steak. I didn’t take notes, but just sat back and enjoyed it. Brief impression is that it was even better than the first night.
  
  Drinking Window: Deserves another 3-4 years in the cellar to show its best.
