January 1, 2013 - Wonderful viscosity and balance. Velvety mouthfeel. Dark fruit, meaty and hints of tar and tobacco. Finish just melts away over a long time. Three more bottles to drink over the next 3 Christmas/New Year holidays.

January 1, 2012 - Deep and bold in color with a dark fruit nose. Blackberry and black cherry flavor with some tar and dark chocolate. Full body and a long finish. Tannins are tight and sweet. Second best syrah in a tasting of 7 from around the world.

January 4, 2011 - Just a great all round wine. Earth and berry with a graphite on the nose. Good after 1 hour decant. great second day. still good after 3 days. Loved it.

December 25, 2010 - Really deep dark purple, trending to black. Really complex and very well balanced. Tasty black cherry. Full body. Long finish.

Did not get back to this wine for a couple of days after Christmas Eve family dinner. Had a glass or two left that really improved from the first day. Would have helped to have decanted that first night. Fuller and richer, with even more complexity. If the finish was long before, it is even longer now, with very fine sweet tannins. Love the taste of this wine.

July 23, 2010 - Decanted for an hour. The unique glycerine smell is there along with a rustic barnyard, meat and red fruit. Very strong on the nose. What I like is a firm flavor profile without being over the top. The right balance of fruit, acid and alcohol. Tannins at the end just enough to give structure to the wine. Really love this wine.
