January 1, 2018 - Extraordinario. Con la ventana de consumo ya prácticamente cerrada pero a tiempo todavía. Ligero con sabores a maderas

October 29, 2016 - No fruit, quite austere.

June 14, 2015 - 45 min decant, full bodied, good balance and finish. In prime with another 5 plus years. Sweet spot outstanding. Good value.

December 25, 2013 - Initial Taste within 1st 30mins. Light clean finish. A bit weak not much power but very smooth soft tannis. Refined.

After 1hr the nose gain depth and deep dark fruits with slight cedar oak notes. On pallet is weighty with refined dusty tannis and cedar notes. Refined smooth.

(CACERES Guadium) 1999 Barolo/2004 Rioja Dear Friends, ...two more terrific buys (in their class) while I'm traveling... The Massolino is one of the rarest wines in Piedmont. It is a downright terrific wine that stands toe-to-toe with the great examples of the region. Released 10 years after the vintage, I urge you to serve this blind in a line-up of the finest 1999 Baroli – my guess is that it will be right at the top: Ok, so seems a little high for this, what about or so less? In the class of Giacosa, Conterno and even something like Roberto Voerzio, at , this wine is now very fairly priced...only 100 or so bottles for the entire US, all in their own individual wood pack... This is a pristine parcel directly from the source (obviously EXTREMELY LIMITED): 1999 Massolino Barolo Riserva Vigna Rionda “X” - (compare at , this is the “X” Speciale not the other Rionda Riserva) ....we also have another ambitious effort that I know very little about (like yesterday’s Ulysses offer) but the tariff speaks for itself (half price). I had one chance to acquire the parcel at what appears to be the lowest price ever offered on this item and I did just that (made even more interesting in that it is the new release of Reserva). I do not have access to my Tanzer or WS et al subscriptions (there was no WA review) but I found this TN quickly searching around (I believe Michael Franz has a well-regarded palate): This wine is also quite limited, hardly any makes its way to the US – most is offered in Europe: 2004 Marques de Caceres Rioja Reserva “Gaudium” - (compare at in the US, in Europe) Both are FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 2 x Massolino and 12 x Gaudium until we run out To order either of the above: nicki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive in a few weeks – it is not a long-term pre-arrival (please check OARS for local pick-up after June 15th). It will ship during the Fall shipping season. Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure. For current local pick up and arrival/ship information, please see your OARS link below (at the bottom of this offer) - don’t know how to access your OARS?
