Community Tasting Notes 10

November 25, 2018 - At the rim, the color is ruby, but the wine quickly shades to cranberry. The nose is of tart cherry, cranberry, cinnamon ad orange zest. With the palate tracking the bouquet, the wine becomes more about texture than flavor at this point. The drying tannins give the wine a leathery feel. The finish is more like black tea - a fault. Vacheron’s wine never beguile me (beyond the label) and largely are an exercise in hit and miss. This wine, while not bad, is nothing to write home about. 13% alc. With Thanksgiving leftovers of quail and sage stuffing and bourbon cranberries. Recommended.

March 3, 2017 - Better than my last note- much more toned down; a mix between a 10yr old Beaujolais and a 10yr old Volnay... But not necessarily as interesting as that sounds, and likely not worth keeping for a decade.

September 14, 2014 - Aromas of rainier cherry, vanilla(oak), hints of strawberry, interesting light maple syrup. Decent minerality, and balanced bitterness. The wine was very good, but didn't blow me completely away. Still an interesting wine, as I've drank very few red Sancerre.

April 17, 2014 - Oof. Everything I liked about this is gone- A very cloying bottle sweetness developed and the minerality disappeared. A bit of an experiment by now, but I'm hoping this changes again - for the better! - in a few more years.
