June 2, 2017 - In spite of my last comment in '15 about this having years left, this bottle is seeming a little long in the tooth—still an enjoyable bottle of clearly aged nebbiolo at this point, but I'd drink 'em if you got 'em, which is what I'll be doing with my remaining two bottles sooner than later.
Medium(+) garnet color with tawny edges and some transparency. Aromas of dried red fruit, earth, tobacco, and cinnamon. There's maybe a touch of that floral component left here, but not enough for my preference—oh well—still an enjoyable nose here. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, and flavors of black cherry, orange and lemon peel, and black tea. So yeah, lost a little freshness and florality (not a word? well, I'm making it one for now), but has some nice aged characteristics in its place, which I'm not altogether mad at, but I'd drink up in any case. -

June 18, 2015 - Nice little nebbiolo here with plenty of varietal character. Garnet in color with moderate bricking and clear meniscus. Pleasing aromas of roses, cinnamon, cherry, tar, anise, and black tea. Medium body, medium+ acid and finish, and flavors of cherry, black tea, orange peel, anise, and baking spices. A little hollow on the mid-palate, but otherwise a nice wine. Tannins are a little grippy but nothing too detracting, especially with food. It's still got some years left, but I'm not sure if it will improve much from here. 90+

May 7, 2012 - A lovely Nebbiolo. I like the dusty earth component and femininity of the fruit. Nebbiolo from Roero is just as good as Barolo. If tasted blind, I would have easily confused this as such. The fruit quality was excellent, vibrant and fresh, elegant but dry with powerful tannins. I love the grittiness this gets from Roero’s sandy soil. Great producer and great wine..

December 26, 2011 - Decanted for 1 hour before serving. This was tough, tensile stuff with sharp tannins. Very young, but this wine delivers a solid palate of mushrooms, roses, and tea in an approachable style. Pleased with my purchase and interested to see how my other bottles develop.

January 22, 2011 - PAWS Chef's Table Dinner (Rittenhouse): Nebbiolo never ceases to amaze me -- this wine is a baby, and yet already showing some slight browning and secondary notes. And yet, I have no doubt that it would be drinking wonderfully in a decade. dark fruit, smoke, tobacco, and a little floral note that, while not quite barolo, makes one reminisce about a barolo. medium tannins and a medium (-) finish that shows more of the secondary notes. paired with fennel and rocket salad with testun al barolo.
