  June 19, 2023 - A beautiful complex nose with aromas of strawberries, red cherries, tobacco, cedar, vanilla, figs, leather, spices and some coffee,
  
  Medium mouthfeel, medium plus acidity, medium plus intensity, medium level of velvety, fine grained an really mature tannins. A really lingering finish.
  
  This is so balanced, nothing out of place. The acidity is backing up the nicely consentrated fruit. A very complex wine with both primary, secondary and tertiary characteristics, and readily identifiable aromas.
  A very typical mature Rioja.
  Again and again mature Riojas continue to impress me. And this is not even a high end wine. Bravo!
  
  Drinking beautifully now, but this can still last another decade if stored correctly.

  De color rubí granatoso de capa media-alta, curiosamente algo más extraido que la cosecha de 1982; lo que no suele ser habitual. Reflejos granadinos y anaranjados, brillante y limpio, sin asomo de precipitados. Borde amplio, anaranjado, contrastado respecto al menisco.
  
  Tan intenso como lleno de detalles. Al abrirlo rezuma de una atractiva nota endrinada a fruta roja licorosa, que contrasta con la austeridad del conjunto: tablones, aperos de mimbre, maromas, y un poderoso fondo maderizado a vainilla y azúcar caramelizado. Progresa sin pausa, dejando atrás toda esa sobriedad inicial que lastraba la expresión de un Imperial elegantísimo y de carácter terciario. Salen especiados de gran finura, pimientas ahumadas, torrefactos, hebras de tabaco, maderas lujosas así como un deje de hebanistería y aceite de linaza. Se luce por sí mismo. Prieto, tenso, sin bajar de frecuencia, arriba en todo momento.
  
  En boca deja una sensación de gran armonía. De medio cuerpo, especiado, excelente acidez y un grado de integración extraordinario. Mantiene un núcleo de frescor, vivaz, al tiempo que está pulido como una gema. Resultón!! Uno de los mejores reservas de Cvne probados a día de hoy. No se le echa nada en falta y puede deparar sorpresas en los próximos años. Está en un momento dulcísimo para ser bebido pero aún puede esperar.

  85% tempranillo, 10% graciano, 5% mazuelo. 13% vol.
  - Permanece en depósitos hasta finalizar la fermentación maloláctica antes de pasar a criarse en madera. Transvasado a barricas en las que realiza la fermentación maloláctica. El vino madura durante un mínimo de 36 meses en esas mismas barricas, semi-nuevas de 225 litros, 70% de roble americano y 30% francés. Sometido a diversas trasiegas manuales cada año. Un mínimo de 36 meses de guarda en los botelleros de los calados de la bodega antes de ser comercializado a finales de la década de los 80. Reencorchado en 2010.
