June 4, 2020 - Well my random single bottle of this is certainly past prime, but not offensive or undrinkable at least, an a fine enough pairing for our barbacoa tacos. Dense, opaque coloring with garnet edges. Aromas of black fruit, graphite, crushed rocks, and a bit of floral. Medium body, acid, and finish, with black fruits leaning towards the stewed/prune side, and minerals. This was almost certainly better a few years ago. Oh well.

February 23, 2017 - The last of 6 bought on release and that is a good thing. I liked prior bottles much better. I liked it more than most but everyone had differing reasons. One taster got tons of pyrazines (bell pepper), while another found it chemical. To me, it old and losing fruit and has some VA. Deep purple in color. The nose shows oak and some black cherries but also acetone. The more air, the stronger it gets. On the palate, there is a nice acidity. Some black cherry fruit, but the acetone persists although not as bad as the nose. Still, I could drink a glass or two and the bottle got emptied. At least Lou liked the label.

August 28, 2015 - PnD let air for 1hr.Dense crimson purple with violet rim. Tar sage cassis and blackberry pate des fruits on the nose. Medium(+) weight with silky then grainy tannins. Big black fruits with notes of sage lavender tar licorice and espresso on the palate. Big complex and fresh. Hell of a deal and will be tracking down more recent vintages.

June 29, 2013 - Violet purple, no sign of age. Starts out with American oak, dusty dark fruit. A couple of swirls later I get perfumed blackberry, green leaves, cream. Full bodied on the palate, viscous, milky malo tones, blackberry, good depth, still tannic. Clean finish. Very modern in style yet good quality, balanced and well tuned. Likable. Drink or keep

March 15, 2013 - PnP. Consistent with previous notes. Oak is settling down and the wine is more integrated. More on the finish than with the previous bottle.
