Community Tasting Notes 19

July 10, 2020 - Much better than my previous bottle earlier. A more flowery perfumed aroma than the previous bottle. Similarly, not as much alcoholic heat, but that may be due to the longer decant. Definitely in decline

January 12, 2020 - Very tertiary in aroma but with some dried red fruit notes. Quite a bit hot on the finish at first, but died down after about an hour or so as it opened up.

May 13, 2019 - I like this, not my style, but it's well made- reminds me of Martinelli from this era. Love the funky reductive notes of smoke, damp leather, spice (loads), and dried fruit. Then the heat, jammy fruit, and vanilla oak on the palate runs that nose over. Good wine, still going, I can't believe they can keep that 15.1 in check... Had with a grilled filet mignon, good choice, the smoke both in the wine and on the meat went well.

January 15, 2017 - Tasted at winery with Tim. This Pinot is made by Bob Foley, but now it's made by Pride's current winemaker Sally Johnson (she started making these wines in 2007). Much more fruit here. Extracted, compared to the 2012 we tasted which is far more earthy and mineraly. Sweet, sugar in a glass. 15.1% compared to 13.4% in the 2012! This one is less for me.

September 8, 2016 - If all Pinots were like this, I would drink PN all the time. Unfortunately, School House is in a league of their own in Napa. Great stuff.
