Community Tasting Notes 4

May 27, 2020 - Popped and poured into Grassl 1855s. Followed over 4 hours.

Fantastic nose of pine, sea spray, salt, rocks, red fruit, mushroom and forest floor. The mid-weight palate has terrific acidity and restrained red lithe fruit concentration. Medium tannin supports the whole symphony. It finishes long, savory, and delicious. Very thought-provoking. If this is what these wines evolve to at 13 years, I'm not touching any for a long time. Wow.

February 6, 2011 - Great structure; was expecting more fruit. For the price, I was expecting a bit more explosiveness.

June 5, 2010 - Alluring nose of black raspberry, Xmas spice, orange peel, dark forest floor, an interesting ferrous, roasting coffee note and a touch of game. Round but airy in the mouth. There is a brilliant mineral edge and lots of spicy clove. Minerals fill the finish, along with fresh berry fruit, a floral note and spicy white herb. Like many 2007 Pinots, this is still a little clenched. Serious stuff. Will be fabulous in 2-3 years.

March 15, 2010 - Notes from RRV Barrel Tasting 2010: Next to the Taylor Lane vineyard pinot this is a bit darker in color, which also describes the palate, a bit softer as well. There is good depth, nice acidity, a touch of orange peel for interest. Very nice Pinot.
