Community Tasting Notes 3

NOSE: strong cool cherry and cool red berry aromas; hint of balsamic.

BODY: violet-tinged ruby color of medium depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: cherry flavor dominates, with a hint of mineral and a green streak; very tart, and ample, acidity; medium-grained tannins; 12.5% alc. not noticeable. Consistent with previous bottles. Nothing great, but a solid wine that shows its best with food. Gut impression score: mid 80’s.

    June 18, 2011 - -- popped and poured --
    -- tasted non-blind over 3 – 4 hours --

NOSE: cool, spiced red berry; baguette crust and a hint of brie; not complex; moderately expressive.

BODY: medium-light to medium bodied; violet-tinged ruby color of medium-light depth.

TASTE: very acidic; cherry; tart red currant; shades of oak in the background; hint of old wood; not much concentration of fruit; medium-grained tannins are drying on the front palate; alc. not noticeable (12.5%); short finish of medium-light intensity; very forward; not much structure; this would be rather difficult to drink on its own (extremely acidic), but this was a wonderful pair to the pork loin and sage that we had for supper – both the wine and the food helped make the other better. I will buy this wine again, if for nothing else, to pair it with pork once again.

    B: 50, 5, 11, 13, 6 = 85
