Community Tasting Notes 3

December 22, 2012 - Appearance: Bright and clear, medium gold in color, with legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium (+) intensity of ripe citrus fruit such as lemon, ripe green fruit such as pear, oak characters such as vanilla and toast, kernal notes of walnut. The wine is youthful.
Palate: Dry, with medium (+) acidity and medium (+) alcohol, the wine is of medium (+) body, with medium (+) intensity of citrus fruit such as lemon, oak characters such as toast and vanilla, autolytic notes of brioche and cream, with a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality oaked Chardonnay with a fairly intense nose and palate, fairly long finish, and also a good balance, showing good oak and malolactic characters. If the wine is more complex it can be even of a higher quality level. Ready to drink now and can benefit from further ageing of another 2-3 years.

May 15, 2011 - Poured this at a blind tasting. Everyone thought it was Burgundy Premier Cru. Not an oaky wine that many people would associate with the New World, much less Chile. Great work by Paul Pontallier of Ch. Margaux and Co.
