April 18, 2022 - Cork was in perfect shape. Color is brilliant dark ruby with no signs of development. The wine itself is holding up beautifully, but not really showing any development. The fruit is very ripe and surprisingly fresh for its age, with well-balanced and well-integrated acidity and tannic structure, but there’s substantial cherry cola character which I dislike. Cinnamon and some resiny herb character, too. A little alcohol burn on the back end, not surprising at almost 15%. Objectively speaking, this is a well-made hot-vintage wine with excellent texture and some real character - just not my style.
