May 19, 2022 - A bit woody with some damp mushroom smell but otherwise flavorful

April 10, 2022 - Gorgeous to the point of distraction. Stopped conversation. And after that the conversation was just about wines.

September 12, 2021 - Prior bottle was one year ago and my notes were consistent. Red cherry, earth, leather and floral notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied with rounded, open black cherry upfront along with slightly brighter, more tart black cherry. Gains a bit of depth through the middle along with some darker black cherry notes, light raspberry and a hint of plum. Tart red and black cherry on the backside along with tannins, acidity and minerals. The mid-body continues to show elegance, but the structural notes on the backside were maybe slightly less well integrated than previously. This wine was opened and drunk over the course of nearly eight hours and it did improve the longer it was open. Overall, I think fruit expression through the middle may be slightly better but integration was a step down from my prior bottle. Should drink well over the next few years and while there's no immediate rush, I don't think there's much to be gained from additional cellar time.

December 17, 2020 - We really enjoyed this simple well produced Brunello. Great floral with limited decant. Minimum sediment. A bit earthy with just the right amount of juicy black cherry. Works for me!

September 2, 2020 - Prior bottle was nearly three years ago and while the wine shows quite well, I may have been slightly too generous with my initial score. Nose remains much the same: cherry, leather, earth and floral notes. Still between medium and full bodied and the flavor profile is also very close to my prior notes: black cherry upfront with a touch of brightness, slightly deeper, more open notes of black cherry through the middle along with some red cherry and raspberry highlights. Backside shows tart red cherry, mineral notes and acidity. Tannins provide good structure and promise additional positive evolution. Again took about 3 hours to fully show properly. The density and elegance is there in the mid-body after being open for that length of time, but not as much as in the prior bottle. Additionally, while the profile held up quite well, I was expecting a bit more complexity as the wine came together. This is still a very good brunello, well worth the price, but just a small step down from my initial impressions. Based on how long it took to open up and the current state of the structural qualities, this wine should continue to advance along these lines over the next few years. Next bottle for me, early Fall 2021.
