September 24, 2019 - Another 2006 disgorgement and not *quite* the best bottle of this I've ever had, but close, which is very nice considering a recent streak of duds. Bright pineapply fruit that hardly seems to have aged a day since release freshened up with classic Champagne chalkiness, with a figure that's both lean and fully fleshed out so it's feminine instead of bony.

June 15, 2019 - 2004 disgorgement, 98/99 vintage blend. Starting to show a bit of age with some more mushroomy and faintly nutty flavours on the nose,
but the fruit beneath is still really bright and intense with some chalky minerality on the back end, and lots of acidity and effervescence giving it lift. Doesn't have quite the exuberance it had a few years ago, but still a fantastic wine to drink - though I'll open my remaining bottles soon.

November 23, 2018 - 1998/99, 2006 disgorgement. Bottle variation on this constantly frustrates me. They go back and forth between glorious and generic young champagne that shows zero payoff for the decade-plus I've been holding them. This one was somewhere in the middle, better than generic, but no cellar payoff. Bracing fruit with chalk and gravel.

November 14, 2017 - Roller coaster ride for this wine continues. After my kinda boring last bottle, this one is back and turning in a glorious performance. This is the 2006 disgorgement of the 1998/99 vintages. Unlike my last bottle, the fruit in this one has picked up a ton of richness with bottle age, golden in tone and so rich it's borderline gelatinous in texture. This could have easily passed for somebody's bling-bling cuvee.

June 30, 2017 - A lovely gold color, wonderfully aromatic even a foot away from the nose, and is both refreshing and caressing. Fine flavors of lemon/lime, bread yeast, and perfumed flowers. The finish is resonating and almost endless. Hands down one of the best wines with nearly every food.

Thank you - Garagiste ************************ Odds Dear Friends, A few last minute additions over the weekend, including an interesting large format that is severely underpriced versus its 2005 counterpart. Have a good weekend everyone - - Jon Rimmerman ***************************** Focus Wine: NV Tarlant Champagne "La Vigne d'Antan" Non-Greffee Blanc de Blanc Extra Brut This is a one of a kind example from an ungrafted pre-phylloxera vineyard - llot de Sablet, planted in the 1880's. It is 100% Chardonnay with the expression of soil and varietal as its primary focus. There are very few (if any) pre-phyloxera vineyards left in Burgundy or Champagne which makes this fussed over example very dear to the collecting community. Maybe the most important aspect of this wine is what it isn't: a homogenized creation blended from several sites to reflect a house style. What it does contain is a light dosage coupled with 120 year old vines that make this dynamic and expressive wine sing with an energy of coiled elegance. Constantly changing in the bottle and in the glass once opened, the Vigne d'Antan is notorious for a chameleon-like evolution that takes the collector on a wild (and often perplexing) ride over many years through the ageing process. Like a snowflake, very few bottles of Vigne d'Antan taste exactly alike (even from the same disgorgement) but the wine's intrinsic appeal and relative obscurity versus the top-drawer of Champagne place it in its own unique category where a slight eccentricity is expected. For the tariff, this remains one of the top bargains in Champagne. This bottling is a new, more expensive disgorgement than the last 2-3 versions of this wine - it is not yet available in the US. EXTREMELY LIMITED - DIRECTLY FROM THE WINERY CELLAR. ***************************** 2006 Dujac Clos St. Denis 1.5lt (BH93) (let's see, the 2005 in magnum is now $2000-2500 and this is $378? Compare at $500-600+) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Champ9765 Burg7561
