May 21, 2021 - Single blind in a pair with M Gibourg Eche 02. The Richebourg unfortunately never got close to matching the Eche to my surprise. It was a lovely wine in its own right though but the Eche was just super. A bit reticent still like a coiled spring. Mineral and precise. But just not singing. Certainly nowhere in the league of DRC's incredible 99 of this vineyard. If I owned this I would give it 10 years (or maybe try a long decant) and keep fingers crossed.

November 15, 2019 - Great red burgundy 1999 horizontal tasting (21 wines) - semi blind (Nordsjaelland): Garnet: Still fruity, medium tannin. Together with Echezeaux the best of the 4 Grivot btls. Not as rustic as Clos de Vougeot and Les Beaumonts. 93+

March 31, 2019 - Decant into an empty bottle then slo-ox for 4 hours. Tannic and close. After 6 hours the wine start give. Concentrate, smoky and dark fruit note. Will hold the last bottle for another 3 years

April 7, 2018 - This was very good - lots of bright red fruits, tons of cherries and good spice notes. This suffered from being a flight vs 99 Roumier Bonnes Mares and 99 Dujac Bonnes Mares. This tasted like it had a good amount of wood that needed to integrate. Having said that this was still very good.

April 6, 2018 - Party at My Place: Dark, stern, big spice. I am finding this completely closed and quiet, much like a '99 Beaux Monts I opened a few weeks ago. On the palate this is similarly tight and very tart. ‘99 indeed seems to be a curve ball at this domaine, which I usually really enjoy. '00, '01, and '02 iterations of this come across as fresher, having more energy, and lighter red berry fruit.

Rockss and Fruit

(Grivot Richebourg) This started out tight. Nose of crushed roses, exotic spice, red cherry fruit, some slight smokey oak. The palate was somewhat clenched at first with great purity and some big tannins. But this fleshed out gorgeously over the next two hours and became very sappy and velvety at the same time. Fruit was explosive and it gained some great complexity and had a dazzling finish. Pure, old-school Burgundy and one of the greatets Richebourg's I have ever had. Just the right amount of richness with great site character and a tremendous structure that will ensure many years of great drinking ahead of it.
