May 20, 2024 - This is showing pretty well and while there's no doubt it could use a few more years, there is enough fruit sweetness still here to suggest it will make it just fine. I've had a few too many '08s that took the other fork at the crossroads and appear headed towards dry, stale, autumnal fruit. This has its acidity no doubt and is structured very acutely, but the fruit is in dark blue/black tones with good sweetness and gloss. There's some stoniness and powdery tannin, both perfectly appropriate for a Rugiens.

April 25, 2024 - Mostly secondary flavors. Not the right QPR for me. It’s not a bad wine, but I was expecting more given the maturity and terroir of the region. It may also be that I prefer Volnay to Pommard.

More enjoyable the second day with interesting aromas developing. Not much fruit left on this one.

Overall, I wouldn’t turn it down if offered, but I also wouldn’t seek it out.

April 28, 2023 - Nose of baking spice and cherry isn’t prominent, it's quite subdued. Palate delivers a much more interesting melange of cherry, tangerine, roses, fresh flowers, and minty herbs. Acidity leads into dry, gentle tannins that show length but not weight, adding red fruit and leather flashes as it lingers. Ready to go - no need to age longer though it will certainly hold.

January 1, 2023 - At peak form. Wild strawberry and warming spices, with a little bit of balsamic, this is structurally resolved and ready to drink. Maybe a little acid driven, and if nit picking, a tad short, but about what I expected from it.

June 18, 2022 - Much better than last bottle. Feels more resolved and ringing really beautifully
