April 7, 2013 - Very expressive and aromatic nose, with flowers, tropical fruit and honey. It is medium (-) in sweetness, with stone fruit, tropical fruit and citrus on th palate. Medium plus acidity and minerality keep it from appearing sweeter. Nice body, mouthfeel and finish. Drinking really well now and likely to remain at this level for a few more years. It paired very well with a savory cheeses.

September 30, 2010 - Color light golden yellow, medium full body. Early nose has handfuls of white and yellow spring flowers and honey over the top of ripe peaches and pineapple, a fine sheen of petrol, and the slightest hint of funk. Overall a beautiful, interesting, and inviting nose, which after 3 hours in the decanter turns more to the petrol component and is less compelling. On the palate, I completely agree with GV that the acidity is lower than expected and lower than it should be, but the flavors are uber-delicious and make you want to bottoms-up drain the glass. Round and concentrated peaches, mandarin orange, sensual nuances of mango, and at times brighter inflections of pineapple, along with uplifting elements of floral, honey, and a little petrol. The level of sweetness seems right where it should be; it reminds me very of the flavor and taste sensation you get when you strip the outer husk off of sugar cane fresh cut from the field and bite into it. The juice squirts and swirls in your mouth, and is mildly to moderately sweet. The finish on this wine is a good 25 seconds, and toward the end turns to minerals and a little saline that build with repeated quick sips. Overall a remarkably delicious, sexy riesling that was interesting on its own, and would probably have paired better with spicy Thai or similar, rather than steamed lobster with butter. Excellent value at 26.

(Kerpen Wehlener Sonnenuhr Artist Series Riesling Spatlese) #1; COLOR-golden; NOSE-a hint of honey; also quite scented with perfume and soaps; PALATE-very fruit driven; green apple and Asian pear; honey; a little hint of petrol on the finish; not ripping acidity, but it taste REALLY good and very drinkable; you feel compelled to chug this wine; shockingly approachable and drinkable for such a young wine; very high quality Riesling, for my palate this lacks some acidity, but REALLY well made; WS-92; GV-91+
