Community Tasting Notes 4

October 7, 2021 - Didn’t taste of chambolle and didn’t taste of new world Pinot either. Let’s call it ultra chambolle. Tasted higher levels of alcohol but that blew off after an hour in the decanter. It got better throughout the night but it was in fact a big 2003 wine…not the chambolle that I love. Reminded me more of a burly nuits saint Georges actually. Tons of black fruit and no floral notes whatsoever. It was fine but I wouldn’t get this again. Better than other 2003s I’ve had but not what I want out of chambolle musigny let alone barthod.

July 2, 2011 - Garnet red, fairly deep core for a pinot noir. Lovely lifted cherry on the nose with a lot of subtle layers. The palate is quite full-bodied for a Chambolle (probably indicative of the vintage), minerals, gravel, savoury, smooth and refined finish and great length. A product of a hot vintage, so not the classic Burgundy, but the class of the maker is evident.

May 20, 2007 - Liked a lot. Very open and pleasing. Great Nose with vanilla and sweet fruit. Cloes down somewhat after 1 hour air.

January 11, 2005 - Concentrated and pure, but quite upfront, so not sure how well it will age. Seems very good in the near term, lots of stuffing.
