August 10, 2011 - Nothing special, but not too bad. A decent. if not overwhelming grocery store Merlot that isn't any better, or any worse than the wines it shares shelf space with. You can tell it Merlot right away on the nose, just slightly herbal. Good color. This is not a fruit bomb, it is relatively balanced in terms of fruit and not fruit flavors and aromas. I suspect that this one is heavily filtered, leaving us to wonder what these grapes may have had in store for us. The fruit is relatively subdued, leaning more towards the red raspberry side. There is some artificial oak, probably from chips, that basically works. Only medium bodied. Slightly bitter on the finish.
