November 28, 2020 - Topaz - maybe a bit deeper than the sercial. The nose is deep and complex: honey; coffee, caramel and orange flower water. All of this underscored by a layer of turpentine. Great intensity on the palate. Finishes dry yet with enough sweetness to complete the palate. I think this is my favorite Madeira grape / style. Long and fine. (92)

February 4, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Aromas of orange peel, candied lemons, salted almonds, ginger and a sense of lovely floral complexity. So bright and zesty on the palate, the richness is masked by the crisp acidity. Lovely complexity of the tropical fruits, honey, almond, sea salt. Intense but elegant. One taster said “Wowza!” – the rest of us agreed.
