Community Tasting Notes 2

August 21, 2010 - Not even in the database yet so added. This bottle came to the dinner bagged so being the awesome and well-studied blind tasting genius that I am, of course, I gave this a spin. Found some nice acidity, bit of ink, medium bodied and as I commented to Rob who had brought the bottle, "I really like this wine, it's god a nice sense of life running through it, vibrant and juicy", he kind of smiled in only the way Rob can. Wasn't sure what the joke was going to be so I kept tasting, even went back to it 2-3 times. I just found the wine alive, a real nice food wine and told him I'd drink it again, for sure. The cost? Frigging 9 or 10 bucks, at of all places, Ralph's (big chain grocery). Wetrock said he thought the wine was heavy on oak but I don't concur. In fact, I'll recommend this wine to all those in the wine geek community. This to me was a real find and at the price listed, to have these flavors, acidity and overall pleasure, what a steal.

August 20, 2010 - Pre-Poker Blind and Not (Main Street Wine Cellar, Seal Beach, CA): Served blind. Pretty nose showing some reductive qualities but tight overall. Very strong wood tannins that start at the attack which remain strong across the whole palate. There is some pretty and even elegant fruit underneath but it's struggling to breath under that harsh wood.
