Community Tasting Notes 4

December 24, 2017 - Aerated an hour before drinking. Remarkably approachable compared with previous bottles of this vintage. Delicious aromas of mature berry fruits, liquorice, spice, leather, balsamico and tobacco. After some time hint of forest floor and wood. Linear acidity and still noticeable tannins. A very good bottle.

March 28, 2015 - Aired for three hours. Ruby red color with a hint of orange edge. Very closed and tight. Some aromas of spice, cherries, dark red berries, earth, tar, wood and forest comes through after some time, but it is not even near the delicious fruit and berry aromas that we had with the 2004 Barbaresco Riserva. The tannins are still quite noticeable. The fruit is in the background whilst forest floor and earth is more dominant. I am not sure whether it's an odd bottle or just needs more time to bring out the fruit. It is definately not there yet.

April 14, 2013 - Aerated in decanter for four hours. Ruby red with a hint of an orange edge in the glass. Still somewhat closed in the beginnning. Opened up after while in room temperature. More distinct aromas of cherries, spice, vanilla an tobacco compared with the first bottle I had two weeks ago. On the palate dark berries, hint of vanilla, spice and leather. Good acidity and noticable tannins.

April 5, 2013 - Decanted for two hours. Ruby red with orange reflections. A bit closed in the beginnning. Opened up after a while in the glass. Aromas of cherries, spice, vanilla an tobacco. On the palate dark berries, hint of vanilla, spice and leather. Good acidity and noticable tannins. This wine deserve to be paired with game dishes.
