February 12, 2009 - In the glass a dark ruby to the rim offering a nose of dark fruits and spice - In the mouth a full wine that has a roundness - not softness - and tastes of Oregon blackberry (boysenberry),cherry,plum and sandalwood. The tannins are still evident but not intrusive and convey a feeling of rusticity through the finish. A very enjoyable wine but not at all feminine as other vintages from this site have been.

February 2, 2008 - Maybe this wine would have been better if drank within 2 or 3 years of bottling. Seems like a perfect example of what someone who made money in some other field and thinks their midas touch transfers to wine. It really does not seem to matter if you have all the marketing buzz words, organic, gravity flow, tight spacing south facing vineyards etc., you have to get good fruit and not screw it up. This is a pedestrian wine at best and reeks of not being able to "walk the talk". Fortunately I only have a few bottles left and can focus on finding and drinking good pinot rather then drinking this poor one.

November 12, 2005 - Deep (almost opaque) garnet in the glass, with a more earthy, less fruity nose than many Oregon Pinots. Wet earth, wild mushrooms, sweet pipe tobacco, and a hint of cherry on the nose. The earthy notes follow through on the palate, but they're somewhat masked by too much new oak. This wine benefitted enormously from air; we didn't decant it, but based on the way it's evolved in my glass, I'd say it needs a couple of hours to open up before serving. Hard to believe that this medium-to-full bodied Pinot comes from the same winery as the lighter (and in my opinion, more enjoyable) Kiana.
