May 9, 2024 - Semi blind tasting flight of 6. Blind for the rest of our group.
2014 DuMol Finn, 2009 Jaboulet Chapelle, 1988 Sandrone Cannubi, 1999 Tignanello, 2014 Cos d'Estournel and 2017 Penfold St Henri

Last of 3 bottles bought at an auction back in 2015 (before the hype)
Smokey fruit on the nose showing age. Still dry with high acidity, a bit hollow maybe but the finish is still rather balanced and fun. Drink up. Group's no 6.

November 5, 2023 - The wine was corked. Just a slight hint in the nose at the beginning that became very present over 4 hours in the decanter. However, on the palate it was not that bad, just slightly. The potential of the wine is still great and would be again on a 95 pts level, if the there would not have been the cork.

September 29, 2023 - not unlike a left bank Bordeaux of similar age. Colour showing some age, orange rim, nose , very complex, leather, mocha, rich, complex, and tannins still gripping. Balance is great, even tannins are still assertive . Lovely wine

August 23, 2023 - Napa 2023 - The Sequel; 8/23/2023-8/28/2023: PnP with early moldy funk that took 15 min to blow off. Mushrooms, oysters, saddle leather, dried tobacco, dried red cherry. Good for what it was, glad I had a chance to try. Not familiar with the aging curve on these but seems past peak for my palate.

May 2, 2023 - Return to Italy: Pio Cesare, Gaja, Oddero, Tignanello and more (Flour Shop, Charlotte, NC) (Charlotte, NC): Slow-ox for 3 hours before serving. Complex nose of young dried cherries, leather, and tobacco. A wine displaying high quality tones and brimming with confidence. Notes of dried cherries and lightly smoked meat on the pallet. A wine with both power and finesse. Richly flavored and demonstrating great depth resolving into a long finish to red and black fruits. My wine of the flight. 3rd place for Wine of the Night.
