January 6, 2022 - This is probably a bit past peak but is very enjoyable now, our best (and last) bottle. Complex nose of kerosene, new tennis ball, black truffles, dark-roasted coffee and kirsch, with a silky mouthfeel. As with many Southern Rhones, a bit low in acid and lacking on the midpalate, but a fairly complete wine, and an interesting dinner companion.

April 4, 2020 - Berries, stewed fruit, leather, tobacco. Structured with tannins on the attack, and acid through the midpalate. A lot going on with this wine. Stewed fruit continues through the finish. Mostly tertiary at this point, but still some nice fruit flavors.

March 16, 2019 - Still pretty weighty with plenty of ripe raisiny fruit. Bitter note on finish.

May 29, 2018 - Really improved since last bottle 18 months ago. Nose is minerals and wet stone with game and tar notes. Dark purple all the way to the rim. Dark berry with a dusty finish. Nice wine and QPR for $20.

    May 21, 2018 - Deep black-garnet to the rim
Youthful nose with fresh red & black fruits. Especially as nine years old.
A savoury palate with a gravelly texture, quite an expansive wine yet has density and feels solid. Plenty of pepper, ripe black cherries, black raspberry with a hint of spice. The tannins are fine and powdery and there is the power to match many CNP. Lovely flesh coats the mid-palate; there is concentration and a reasonably long finish. Not a charming wine as such but stocky and sturdy.
