Community Tasting Notes 10

February 11, 2024 - PnP served ~ 65F and enjoyed over the following two hours. Leans modern, sure, but it's what's in the glass the counts, and this is in a great spot now. The EtOH is integrated, there's good acidity and the wine has plenty of flavor and good+ length. For the miniscule amount I paid at the cantina, this former beast has been tamed and is in its preferred window now and the next five years. I'm glad I wait, and wish I had had one or two more for the coming years. 15,0% abv. recommended

January 24, 2023 - Oxidized and opened with a pop. Bought at CostCo.

September 11, 2022 - Deep purple, opaque. Great nose of blackberry, cherry, leather, some earth. Big body - more tannins than typical for Barbera. This is a big ripe wine - big mid palate, and a decent length finish. A bit of nice barrel influence, but still retains that nice Barbera fruit. Well balanced, even at 15% abv. Excellent wine. Ready to drink now.

February 16, 2022 - Prune on the nose with floral notes. Blackberry flavor, highly acidic with medium high gritty tannins. Short length.

January 9, 2022 - Dark reddish garnet in color, essentially opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of blueberries, cherries & mulberries with overtones of earthy/dusty notes, some floral & spice notes, herbs & minerals. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but has potential for further development with several additional years of aging.
