December 28, 2023 - Two hours in the decanter, lots of red berries, plums, hint of game, spices and some earthy notes on the nose, palate is elegant, deep and serious concentration, really long finish. Just a stunning beautiful wine

October 14, 2023 - Very complex. Olive tapenade, grilled meats and pepper, with great acidity and delicious red fruit. Drinks like a Northern Rhône Syrah. Wow!

November 15, 2022 - Forrige flaske var smertefullt tight, litt nervøs da denne ble åpnet - men etter en snau times lufting hadde ting virkelig gått seg til.
Nydelig syrah-drevet frukt, moreller, paprika, medium fylde. Elegant munnfølelse, ingen «new world»-takter her. 14 prosent alko, strålende håndtert. Flott, energisk utgang med moreller og kirsebær - veldig pen vin

September 24, 2022 - Two hour slow ox. Very deep rosy magenta color. Strawberry pie, raspberry, brisket bark, and subtle leather on the nose. Very smooth, dry palate. Firm, full, medium intensity tannins. Longish finish.

This is much lighter colored than a typical American Syrah. It has an excellent balance of sweet and savory. Not necessarily my style, but clearly well built and fun to drink. This is from Maggie Harrison’s Collective club.

January 8, 2022 - Few hours of air in bottle already. Tasted blind from ZL. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, medium ruby. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of cool pine, red cherries, ripe strawberries, darker red berries, hint of earth + minerals. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), fine lick of textured high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flvours of ripe strawberries, red cherries, darker red berries, pine, some whole bunch stems, earth, dark meaty interior, violet juice to the finish. Long structured finish.
Very good quality. Even tempted to give a higher score. Guessed as an elegant Northern Rhone Syrah. Wow turns out to be Columella. Less black fruited than previous vintages and has more finesse over power now. Good life ahead.
The amount of new oak has decreased radically to the extent that only 8% new oak is used here now. Increasing percentage of the fruit is whole bunch. This 2017 is 60% Syrah, with the remainder coming from Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault.
