December 27, 2019 - Full bodied, tight knit, decanted for an hour, still seems to be a few years life left in this. Dense, dark, impressive.

May 24, 2019 - Very bold cherry, fruity. Little too jammy for me.

April 21, 2019 - One of the best Chilean wines I've ever tasted, and still a solid value at $30 (in Ontario), this is an organic blend, from a very find producer, of 38% Syrah, 31% Carménère, 19% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% each of Mourvèdre and Malbec. That mix doesn't provide for much varietal definition, but what is lost in specificity is gained in overall balance, which is truly the defining feature. That said, the big varietals do speak for themselves. The fabulous nose is all Bordeaux, a blend of Left and Right Bank, the Merlot and Cab offering notes of cassis, plum, violet, earth, pine and forest floor, twigs, and mushroom, with some additional leafiness and greenery coming presumably from the Carménère. Meanwhile, the Syrah enters more definitively on the palate, with notes of blackberry, black pepper, and bacon, riper and rounder than the typical French version. The integrated acidity and fine, chalky tannins suggest that this is now at or very near the peak of its prime, the structure mirroring the aromas and flavours in its remarkable balance. This is basically Chile doing France, melding Bordeaux and the Rhône, but in a decidedly Chilean idiom, not least given the abundant Carménère, and it's very much a reflection of the achievements of premium Chilean wine.
