Community Tasting Notes 3

February 7, 2024 - A much lighter and less acidic profile than I anticipated. A nice wine that could fill in for a Pinot Noir if needed.

May 21, 2023 - Very pleasantly surprised by this one. I had been drinking Barolos lately, and saving this one because I was not confident it would be good, but this non-barolo nebbiolo was quite good, and beat some of the Barolos I've recently had.

Tasting notes: tanned leather and tobacco...with a little fruitiness on the side.

Enjoyed with grilled chicken with US-Midwest BBQ sauce (so, a lot of red sauce). Perfect pairing.

I will be buying a few more to have on hand, as my family likes that US-Midwest BBQ style.

    April 16, 2023 - Decanted 3+ hours

Raspberry, cherry aromas in decanter. A pronounced cherry aroma after the pour, with cranberry, rose and a little anise. Possibly a hint of raspberry.

Translucent, deep garnet in the glass.

Wow, here come those tannins on the first sip. Spicy, chalky. Medium body. More cherry on the palate. I can see why people go with leather. Medium bold. Dry. Yet I’ve never seen so many short legs in a glass. 14.5% ABV. Acid on the medium finish.

Didn’t have any hard cheese on hand. Went alright with sharp cheddar. Had a gnocchi dish with blue cheese and bacon the other day that would probably have gone great.

From Alba, an area just inside the southern province of Cuneo in Piedmont.

This was the first Nebbiolo we’ve had. Looking forward to comparing it to others.
