Sunday, December 2, 2012 - A Weekend Of Aged First-Growths At Beau-Rivage in Geneva (Beau-Rivage Hotel, Geneva, Switzerland): The reason I went to Switzerland was to taste a perfect bottle of this wine and others assured me it was. Excellent deep color with an extraordinary nose of licorice, black spices and eucalyptus. On the palate, it really does drink like a fine port with incredibly sweet black fruits and an extensive array of spices - coriander, pepper, coffee, orange. Deeply round and ultra-smooth, it is a fat wine with absolutely no astringency and just goes down like velvet. An emotional experience to taste but such a unique and crazy wine that I found I preferred some of the more classically proportioned wines tonight. Still, an incredible joy to taste such a great bottle of this wine.
