Monday, February 10, 2014 - Blind I would say this is Burgundy of some sort. There is really nothing New World about this. Pours transluscent dark ruby. Aroma is of dark berries, violets and forest floor and a bit of an odd reductive (?) whiff that fades after a few minutes in the glass. It begins in the palate with notes of dark cherry and raspberry, transitioning to earth and savory mushrooms and finishing off with a very powerful salty mineral note and strong tannins that really remind me of Pommard.
Worked beautifully with a stew of chorizo, kale and potatoes.

I really don't get the "too ripe" comments in here.
