2009 Pride Mountain Vineyards Merlot

Monday, May 12, 2014 - From 3L. This was supposed to sleep a lot longer, but opened yesterday in dad's honor at a family event. The name (Pride) and the presence of their large formats matched the occasion perfectly, and he was liking CA Merlot toward the end. Luckily the wine showed really well to cap it off.
Full purple/dark fruit flavors of ripe plum and licorice offset by mild to medium tannins and spice. Acidity is also on the softer side, but bright enough to hold it together. Short to medium finish. 14.6 Abv. Had to keep this cool to show its best...luckily there was an industrial sized freezer close to where I had it set up. So glad I bought this, really came through.
