Saturday, September 13, 2014 - Tasted at BBR event alongside a 1986 Margaux Margaux. Tasted first and was a massive hit of lush fruit, complexity and depth after the previous burgundy/Pinot flights. So much so that it took a while to get into the Margaux afterwards which was a completely different kind of complexity. This was still too young and not comparable to the Margaux really. It was however, once past the youth, a truly beautiful wine and one that could make you cry such was the depth, richness and balance. I can imagine buying this wine and seeing how it develops - the Margaux however, which was my favourite is a wine I don't think I'll have the pleasure of experiencing again in my lifetime (which fills me with sadness.....) I am trying to hold onto the memory of both.
